The Manual Spot Welding Machine is a battery-pack assembly tool intended for joining thin nickel or nickel-plated strip to cylindrical battery cells during pack building, repair and prototyping. Manual battery spot welders are commonly used by battery workshops, training labs and small production units because the operator can position the cell and strip directly, adjust the welding parameters and make individual weld points without programming an automatic XY welding system.

Spot welding creates a localized electrical-resistance weld between the interconnect strip and battery terminal. The quality of the weld depends on pulse energy, electrode pressure, electrode condition, strip material, strip thickness, cell terminal surface and operator technique. A good weld should provide reliable electrical contact without excessive heat input into the cell. More welding power is not automatically better: excessive energy can burn through thin nickel, damage the cell terminal or create deep marks, while insufficient energy produces weak welds that can lift during vibration or current loading.

Manual machines are particularly useful when production volume is moderate or battery layouts change frequently. The operator can reposition cells and strips quickly without reprogramming automation. For consistent results, establish a welding parameter window on sample material before beginning a production batch.

Before ordering or installing the machine, confirm the input power requirement, control method, electrode type, maximum supported strip thickness and whether the machine is intended for pure nickel, nickel-plated steel or other materials. Also verify the cell formats you plan to weld. Common cylindrical formats include 18650, 21700 and 26650, but physical compatibility depends on fixtures and working space rather than the welder name alone.

Installation Guide

Install the machine on a stable, dry workbench with the correct electrical supply and protective earthing specified by the manufacturer. Keep electrode tips clean and aligned, and replace or dress worn tips when weld quality becomes inconsistent. Start with low welding energy and test on sample material, then increase gradually until the weld passes a suitable peel or mechanical check without excessive cell heating. Keep the strip flat against the cell terminal and apply consistent pressure. Do not weld damaged, swollen or leaking cells. Use eye protection and keep loose conductive material away from live battery assemblies.
