SLCT BMS LFP 8S 20A
The SLCT BMS LFP 8S 20A is a hardware battery management and protection board intended for eight-series LiFePO4 battery packs. An 8S LFP battery uses eight nominal 3.2V cell groups connected in series, producing a nominal pack voltage of about 25.6V. The 20A designation identifies the current class of this SKU, placing it in the compact battery-pack segment where controlled current delivery, correct cell-group supervision and reliable power-path wiring are important.
A BMS sits between the cell stack and the external charge/discharge path and acts as the electrical control layer for the battery. Correct BMS selection starts with chemistry and series count because LiFePO4 cells use different operating voltage limits from NMC lithium-ion cells. The board must therefore be matched to an 8S LFP architecture rather than selected only by current rating or physical size.
In an 8S pack, the BMS receives voltage information from each series cell group through the balance harness and controls the main current path according to the board's configured protection logic. The 20A current class should be treated as one part of the complete pack design. Cell capability, busbars or nickel interconnects, cable cross-section, connector contact resistance, fuse selection, enclosure temperature and duty cycle all influence the usable system current and heat generation.
Voltage drop becomes increasingly important as current rises. A connection that appears acceptable at light load can become a hot spot when contact resistance, undersized conductors or poor crimping are present. For that reason, the BMS, cable, connector and protection device should be designed as one electrical path. The BMS should also be mounted so that its power components can dissipate heat and so conductive objects cannot contact exposed circuitry.
Use this BMS with an eight-series LiFePO4 battery pack. Do not substitute an 8S NMC pack simply because the number of series groups is the same; the chemistry and cell-voltage profile must match the BMS configuration. Match the balance-harness sequence, main negative connection arrangement, connector orientation and physical mounting space to the supplied board. The charger, load and fuse should also be selected for the same pack voltage and current class.
Applications
• 8S LiFePO4 battery packs for compact power systems.
• Small solar, backup and energy-storage battery assemblies.
• Portable battery projects using a 25.6V-class LFP architecture.
• Battery repair and replacement work for compatible 8S packs.
• Light electric-mobility or equipment batteries where the system current remains within the designed pack limits.
Installation Guide
Confirm the complete 8S cell sequence before connecting the balance harness. Measure adjacent cell-group voltages and check that pack voltage rises correctly from the first group to the eighth. Connect the balance leads in the specified order, then connect the main power path using correctly sized conductors and secure terminals. Prevent accidental short circuits during assembly, insulate exposed metal, provide mechanical support for the BMS and commission the pack at a controlled load before full operation.
Why Choose ARB Accessories?
ARB Accessories focuses on lithium-battery, EV, energy-storage and battery-pack assembly components. The catalog brings together BMS boards, connectors, insulation materials, battery boxes, wiring, cell interconnect materials, testing equipment and assembly tools. For battery builders, repair workshops and OEM buyers, sourcing related components from one specialist catalog can make specification matching and procurement easier. Final suitability should still be checked against the exact battery design, equipment model and electrical requirements before installation.
