JBD CP04S005 4S 20A LiFePO4 Battery Management System
The JBD CP04S005 4S 20A BMS is specified for a 4-series lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 / LFP) battery configuration. It is a battery-protection component to be matched to the cells, charging system and load.
The CP04S005 family addresses compact low-voltage packs, including small storage and lighting equipment. Its value is a dedicated protection circuit at the battery, rather than a separate display or a charger. The selected cell count must be fixed correctly before the board is incorporated into a finished pack; a similar-looking board for another lithium chemistry is not a substitute.
This is a hardware protection-board family with a common charge/discharge connection and an external temperature-sensing provision in the reviewed configuration. Protection and temperature settings belong to the ordered revision. A protection trip is an abnormal-condition response, not the normal method of terminating every charge. The balance configuration is not sufficiently consistent across the available documentation to advertise balancing as a fitted feature of this item. Keep that option separate from the basic protection function when preparing the purchase specification.
Specify the balancing function separately when approving the supplied board. A BMS label, blue PCB or sense connector does not establish balancing current or activation conditions. Where balancing is fitted, its equalisation current is different from the main charging current. Consistently drifting cell groups need investigation; adding a protection board does not restore lost cell capacity or repair an internal cell defect.
A four-series LFP pack is commonly considered a 12V-class source, but it is not a regulated 12V supply. Check the connected equipment at the highest and lowest permitted pack voltages. Existing lead-acid charger equalisation or desulphation modes must not be carried over into an LFP conversion without explicit compatibility approval. The BMS is not a replacement for the correct charger.
Applications
• Twelve-volt-class portable lighting packs with suitable LED driver input limits.
• Small solar storage assemblies using an LFP-compatible charge controller.
• Non-critical DC backup systems with properly matched output converters.
• Battery-powered inspection instruments and portable service equipment.
• Engineered lead-acid-to-LFP conversions after charger and load compatibility checks.
• Custom four-series battery packs for equipment builders and repair workshops.
Installation Guide
Have a competent battery assembler commission the board using its specific wiring diagram. Disconnect external chargers and loads before assembly work; the cell terminals themselves still contain stored energy. Protect exposed conductors, remove metal debris and use appropriate insulation. Check polarity and every cell-group measurement before inserting a sensing connector, following the manufacturer's stated connection sequence.
Use a controlled test arrangement for initial commissioning. Confirm normal charging, controlled load operation and the relevant recovery behaviour without exceeding the cell specification. Do not deliberately short the assembled battery to demonstrate protection, and do not bypass the BMS to conceal an unexplained trip. Stop and investigate unexpected heating, unstable measurements or damaged cells.
Validate temperature rise in the intended enclosure and keep charging within the cell manufacturer's permitted temperature window. Record the board revision, wiring, charger settings and test results with the pack. Changes to the cell model, charger, load or harness require renewed review; an earlier successful build is not approval for a different electrical configuration.
Why Choose ARB Accessories?
ARB Accessories provides BMS options alongside battery assembly components for Indian pack builders. Prepare your enquiry with the exact cell count, chemistry, load profile, charger current and required connector arrangement. A clear technical requirement helps select the correct variant without relying on a rounded voltage label or an unverified feature claim.
