Fuse Blade 100A – Big
The Fuse Blade 100A Big is a large-format automotive-style blade fuse designed to provide overcurrent protection in compatible high-current DC circuits. ARB lists this version at 100 amps, identifies it as a large-size fuse, and references the execution standards SAE J2077, JASO D612, and QC/T 420-2004 on the existing product data. It is intended to be installed in a matching fuse holder so that excessive current can open the fuse element and disconnect the protected circuit according to the fuse’s time-current behavior.
A fuse is a sacrificial protection device. It is selected to protect the wiring and circuit from current levels that exceed the intended design. It does not regulate current during normal operation and it does not replace the BMS, contactor, charger protection, or other system controls.
Technical Details
The fuse contains a calibrated conductive element between its two blades. During normal operation, current passes through this element. If current rises sufficiently above the fuse’s designed operating range for the required time, the element heats and opens the circuit.
The exact operating time is not determined only by the “100A” marking. Fuse clearing depends on the magnitude and duration of the overcurrent, fuse design, ambient temperature, holder condition, and applicable time-current curve. For this reason, a 100A fuse should be selected from the requirements of the circuit rather than used as a universal protection value.
The fuse rating should coordinate with the wire size, expected continuous current, allowable peak current, load characteristics, connector ratings, and protection strategy. A fuse is generally chosen to protect the conductor and downstream circuit, not simply to match the maximum current printed on a battery or BMS.
The circuit voltage must also be within the fuse’s verified voltage rating. Do not install a fuse in a battery system with a higher voltage than the fuse is designed to interrupt safely. If ARB’s final product documentation does not list the voltage rating, verify it from the exact fuse marking or supplier datasheet before use in higher-voltage battery systems.
Select a 100A fuse only after coordinating the fuse with the conductor ampacity, expected continuous current, allowable surge current, fuse holder and circuit voltage. The fuse should protect the wiring and downstream circuit rather than simply match the maximum current printed on another component. Confirm that the large blade holder is designed for the same fuse format and current class, and use the fuse only within its verified voltage and interrupting capability. If a fuse opens repeatedly, investigate the electrical fault instead of increasing the fuse rating.
Applications
When the fuse voltage rating, holder, and circuit design are compatible, a 100A large blade fuse may be used in:
• Lithium battery packs
• EV and e-mobility wiring
• Automotive auxiliary circuits
• Battery chargers and DC distribution
• Solar and energy-storage battery systems
• UPS and backup-power equipment
• Inverters and DC loads
• Industrial battery systems
• High-current accessory circuits
Installation Guide
Install the fuse only in a holder designed for the same large blade format and current class. The blades should seat fully with firm contact pressure. Loose or contaminated contacts can create resistance and heat even when the current is below 100A.
If the fuse opens, do not simply replace it repeatedly. Check the circuit for short circuits, overloads, damaged wiring, incorrect equipment, or other causes. Replace the fuse only with the correct current and voltage class specified by the system design.
Why Choose ARB Accessories?
ARB Accessories focuses on lithium-battery, EV, energy-storage and battery-assembly products for technical buyers across India. The product range brings together connectors, wires, fuses, BMS hardware, cells, enclosures, testing equipment and assembly accessories in one specialist catalog, making it easier to source compatible components for the same battery or DC system. Clear product naming, electrical ratings and application guidance help workshops, pack manufacturers, system integrators and service teams compare parts before ordering. For best results, select every component according to the actual voltage, current, connector, conductor and mechanical requirements of the finished system.
