DALY Smart Active Balancer 13S 1A

The DALY Smart Active Balancer 13S 1A is a communication-capable active cell-equalization module designed for compatible lithium battery packs using thirteen series-connected cell groups. It combines DALY’s active balancing function with configurable smart functionality available within the manufacturer’s smart active-balancer family.

The module is rated for up to 1A active balancing. Instead of functioning only as a passive bleed circuit, it redistributes energy within the connected battery to help reduce differences between cell-group voltages. The smart range should be distinguished from DALY’s hardware-only active balancers because supported smart variants add communication and parameter-management capability.

How It Works

The balancer is connected to the cell-group sampling points of the 13S battery pack. These connections allow the module to monitor the relevant cell-group voltages and perform active balancing according to its configured operating conditions. Energy is redistributed within the pack to help reduce the voltage spread between groups.

Smart Balancer vs Hardware Balancer

Both product types perform active equalization, but their use cases differ. The hardware version focuses on automatic balancing using fixed operating logic. The smart version adds communication and configurable balancing behaviour depending on the exact interface version. Customers choosing between the two should therefore consider whether they need only equalization or also require parameter access and communication.

Important Note

DALY identifies the smart active-balance module as a balancing device and not a replacement for the BMS. The DALY Smart Active Balancer 13S 1A should therefore be used to add or enhance active equalization within a correctly designed 13S battery system while an appropriate BMS continues to provide the protection and switching functions required by the finished battery pack.
