Technical Details

It should not automatically be used for the main battery positive or negative cable. Main power conductors must be sized according to the required current, allowable voltage drop, conductor temperature, route length, and protection device.

For BMS sensing, pay particular attention to the connector terminal size and crimp range. A conductor that is too large may not fit the terminal correctly, while a conductor that is too small may not crimp securely. The complete harness should be checked for continuity and correct cell-order sequence before the BMS connector is inserted.

Use 7/36 voltage wire for low-current sensing, control and internal wiring only when its conductor construction and insulation are suitable for the circuit. In BMS harnesses, terminal size and crimp range are especially important because the wire must seat correctly in small connector contacts. Black insulation is commonly used for negative, return or reference conductors, but battery sense harnesses should always be identified by circuit position rather than colour alone. Do not substitute this wire for a main charge or discharge cable unless the electrical design specifically permits it.
