Battery DC Wire 0.5 sq.mm Black – 100 Meter

The Battery DC Wire 0.5SQMM Black 100 MTR is a flexible insulated conductor supplied in a 0.5 square millimeter nominal conductor size and a 100-meter length for battery assembly, low-current DC wiring, electronics, and internal equipment connections. The black insulation makes it practical for wiring systems where a negative, return, ground-reference, or other designated circuit needs to be identified visually.

A 0.5 sq.mm wire is substantially smaller than the heavy cables commonly used for the main charge and discharge path of high-current lithium battery packs. Its most appropriate role is therefore in low-current DC, auxiliary, control, sensing, indicator, relay, small-load, or internal harness applications, provided the actual wire specification supports the intended circuit.

Technical Details

It should not automatically be used as the primary battery discharge lead. High-current power cables must be sized separately for continuous current, peak current, length, voltage drop, thermal conditions, protection device, and installation method.

Wire sizing is a system-design decision. A conductor that is too small for the current can experience excessive voltage drop and heating, while a wire that is unnecessarily large may be difficult to terminate in small connectors. The 0.5 sq.mm designation gives the installer a clear starting point, but the allowable current must be determined from the wire’s actual conductor material, insulation temperature rating, bundling, ambient temperature, and applicable engineering standard.

Black is widely used for negative or return conductors in DC equipment. This can improve harness organization and reduce assembly errors when paired with red or other colored wires. Nevertheless, always verify the circuit and polarity from the wiring diagram. Do not rely on color alone when servicing a previously modified battery pack.

The 0.5 SQMM cross-section makes this wire suitable for low-current DC, control, auxiliary and sensing circuits when the circuit design supports it. It should not be selected for a main battery discharge path simply because it is sold as battery wire. Safe current depends on conductor material, insulation temperature class, run length, bundling, ambient temperature and acceptable voltage drop. Black insulation is commonly used for negative or return wiring, but final identification should follow the harness drawing and terminal labels used in the battery system.

Applications

Depending on verified wire ratings and the equipment design, this 0.5 sq.mm black wire may be used for:

• Battery pack auxiliary wiring

• BMS low-current connections

• Relays, switches, and indicators

• DC control circuits

• Sensor and monitoring wiring

• Small fans or low-current accessories

• Charger control wiring

• Electronics repair

• Test equipment and prototypes

• Internal wiring inside battery enclosures or power equipment

Installation Guide

Use a terminal or connector designed for 0.5 sq.mm wire. Strip the insulation carefully without cutting conductor strands. For crimp terminals, use the correct die and check that the conductor and insulation crimps are secure. For soldered connections, avoid allowing solder to wick excessively into the flexible section because this can create a rigid stress point.

Route the wire away from sharp edges, hot components, moving parts, and high-current busbars where unnecessary coupling or abrasion could occur. Provide grommets or protective sleeving when the wire passes through a metal battery enclosure.
